South Louisiana Trailblazers On The Move

(Dirt Wheels Magazine Feb. 2004 Original Article)

The South Louisiana Trailblazers was founded in 1998 and has become the fastest growing Off Road organization in Louisiana. Originally, our club goals were mainly to provide an atmosphere of people with similar interests. But as we grow, we have realized the need to become politically active with Government agencies to preserve and protect our off road riding areas.

The South Louisiana Trailblazers are taking the lead in developing an off road park that is open to the public year round and its FREE. We have sign a Challenge- Partnership agreement with the Army Corps of Engineers New Orleans District to build and maintain this off-road park at the Bonnet Carre’ Spillway near New Orleans in Norco La.

Some of the projects happening here are a go-kart track, Junior and Senior MX tracks, two 1000 feet acceleration lanes for the drags, mud bog pit, and several trail systems in the woods, 1000 foot long half pipe and Multi Use track.

We are aggressively working with club members and non-members to help setup and maintain our trails. We have regular schedule workdays during the month. When we have our schedule workdays and everyone enjoys working together as a team. With one goal in our mine is making a safe and enjoyable place for the whole family to come ride. ATV’s offer tremendous opportunities of fun with friends and family.

Within the last 6 months we have seen our organization grow over 60 % in membership and with the number of non-members riding our trail system, we expect the our membership will sky rocket with in the next 6 months. With the number of positive comments we are getting from non-members not just to join our organization, but to help us in our volunteer program in the Spillway it is unbelievable.

We are not pushing everyone to join the Trailblazers, just come ride with us. If you enjoy what the Trailblazers offer your family and friends? If you want to have a voice and have input in our organization, then join the Trailblazers.
